Back Pain

Georgia, 35 years old, back pain

“After just one appointment with Dr. Norris I felt balanced and relaxed and experienced a significant reduction in the back pain that had bothered me for years.

I was nervous about seeing a chiropractor, but at that first visit, Dr. Norris’s calm and gentle demeanor and obvious experience gave me confidence, and I knew I was in good hands. She made sure I understood exactly what she was doing and why, explaining each step clearly.

It turned out that I had several vertebrae and a rib out of alignment. Dr. Norris made time in her schedule for me to come back two weeks in a row to get me fully restored, and now I just call her if I need her. I have such faith in Dr. Norris that I scheduled an adjustment for my seven-year-old son!”

Problem:
Georgia, a 35-year-old mother, presented with chronic discomfort in her upper back that was exacerbated by stress. She also complained that her shoulders and arms were uneven.
Treatment:
A hands-on examination of Georgia’s spine and extremities revealed that she was out of alignment in several places, and probably had been for many years. A series of adjustments was performed over three appointments. To help Georgia stay in alignment and avoid the need for future adjustments, we recommended that she build up her postural muscles with upper body exercises, such as rowing or lifting weights. The physical exam revealed that Georgia has flat feet, so we also advised her to wear shoes with good arch support, or invest in a custom insert for her less supportive footwear.
Outcome:
Georgia felt instant relief, and after being fully adjusted over three visits her chronic back pain disappeared.
